Discover Early Learning in Highfields

Our Difference

Our curriculum at Highfields Childcare Centre focuses on education through each child’s own curiosity, exploring the many learning experiences to offer such creative minds and extending on these. Every day a child is learning so much in their early years and developing their own individual personality; therefore, our goal is to help them maximise the most important aspects of early learning to grow and develop in a safe, healthy, respectful environment. We welcome enrolments to our childcare centre to explore our health and creativity and life skills programs from children and families throughout Highfields and surrounding areas.

Making A Global Difference

Our program has a strong focus on the connection between the natural living environment and the responsibility we have in respecting and caring for it. Our Educators spend time with the children, showing each child numerous important ways to make a positive difference. Children are able to interact with animals, partake in Bush Kindy experiences, be involved in daily rituals focusing on reusing, recycling and waste management, as well as understanding the life cycle of herbs and vegetables through the paddock to plate programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Early childhood education is important because it builds the foundation for learning and development. It not only provides children with valuable skills but also stimulates their mind and helps them discover new things, including their own creativity. This all becomes the basis of what will enable them to learn as they grow older — in school and life —because we know that early experiences have a lasting impact.

Your child will benefit from active and engaging learning experiences that include a wide variety of play, including dramatic play, arts and crafts, music and dance, wellness, sports, nutrition, role-playing as well as problem solving activities. There is a big focus on literacy and numeracy too, with many learning centres putting an emphasis on language development through songs, rhymes and games.

A child learns so much at an early education centre! Skills can be grouped into four main areas: development and learning, social and emotional, physical and cognitive. A child develops physically through active experiences of moving their body, exploring their environment and engaging with different materials. They develop emotionally through positive relationships with adults and children as well as self-confidence. Social and emotional skills include understanding rules, taking turns, accepting differences and dealing with emotions. And most importantly the early years lay the foundation for learning. A child learns through imitation, play, repetition and interactions with a caring adult. They learn about relationships with others as well as concepts such as size, shape, colour and texture among many others!
